The Air Transport
Research
Society (ATRS) and the local organizing committee (Álvaro
Costa, Cristina Barbot e Sandra Melo) would like to invite
you to submit abstracts for papers to be presented at the 14th ATRS
World Conference to be held in Porto, Portugal from 6 to 9 July 2010
You are invited to submit an abstract (or paper) on any air transport
and related topics including economics, geography, policy analysis,
management, marketing, operations, technology, logistics/supply chain
management, modelling, etc. Specific topic areas include (but are not
limited) to the following:
- Aviation security and safety issues
- Air transport demand forecasting
- Future scenarios for the air transport
market and industry
- Airport economics, policies, planning,
and/or operations
- Bilateral and multilateral negotiations

Abstract Format
and Deadlines
The conference presentation decisions will be
based only on the evaluation of the abstracts.
Abstracts should be 150-200 words (1 page) in
length,
and should contain the title; purpose of the paper; methodology;
anticipated results or contributions to literature, industry or
society. Please use our Abstract template (attached at the end of this
document). Abstracts must contain enough information for the referees
to evaluate your contributions (theoretical, methodological, and/or
empirical). Please make sure to provide name of author(s), affiliation,
senior author´s title, e-mail address, mailing address, phone and
fax
numbers.
Very Important: Your paper will
appear in the
conference CD only if the completed paper and the conference
registration fee are received by us by May 31, 2010. This CD will be
included in the conference registration package to be distributed to
all conference participants, and will also be made available for
purchase via the ATRS website after the conference.
The following deadlines apply:
- Abstract submission: January 31, 2010
- Notification of acceptance of abstract: March
31, 2010
- Early registration deadline: May 31,
2010
- Payment of the conference registration fee and
submission of papers for inclusion in the conference CD &
presentation sessions: May 31, 2010
- Payment of the conference registration fee and
submission of papers on PowerPoint presentations for inclusion in the
presentation sessions, but not in the conference CD: June 15,
2010
- Submission of PowerPoint presentations: June
30, 2010

- Those who cannot submit the paper by June 15, 2010,
but wish to make presentation at the ATRS World Conference please send
your power point and register for the conference by June 30, 2010, and

indicating your desire to make your presentation without a paper so
that we can schedule your presentation.
Nature of the
ATRS Conferences
The ATRS annual conference includes participation
from
all facets of the aviation industry: airlines, airports, ATC,
aerospace, government officials, consultants and academics. In addition
to paper presentations, the conference will also offer invited keynote
speakers from industry and a panel session on current and critical
issues facing the industry.
Selected programs of past conferences are
available on
ATRS website [www.atrsworld.org]. The Programme for the 2009 ATRS
Conference will be updated from time to time as detailed planning
proceeds.
Special Issues of Journals: In
the past, every year we have published selected papers from the ATRS
conferences in ATRS special issues of Journal of Air
Transport Management, Transportation Research E, Journal of Air
Transportation, and less frequently Transport
Policy: The Official Journal of WCTR Society. We will attempt
to continue with this effort.

Registration form is available on the ATRS website.
Register by May 31, 2010 for a reduced early
registration rate.
